- Associate Veterinarian Surgery and Dentistry
Description
Tired of corporate? Ready to help our community at an independent practice that’s growing fast?
Sound Animal is a veterinary specialty practice in the Seattle area focused exclusively on dental procedures and advanced soft tissue surgery. No wellness visits, no urgent care, no general practice — our doctors spend their days doing the clinical work that drew them to veterinary medicine in the first place.
We opened our doors in early 2025 and have built strong referral relationships with emergency, specialty, and general practice hospitals across the region. Our caseload is growing steadily, and with that growth comes real opportunity for the right veterinarian to step into a meaningful role and grow with us.
Our team operates in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment where clinical development is a priority, not an afterthought. Whether you're refining skills you already have or expanding into new areas of surgery and dentistry, you'll have the support and the cases to do it.
We believe that focused, high-quality work and a sustainable schedule aren't mutually exclusive. Our doctors enjoy a predictable caseload, a balanced workweek, and the satisfaction of doing specialized work every day without the churn of a traditional general practice.
What You’ll Do
- Perform soft tissue surgery: mass removals, abdominal exploratory, foreign body retrieval, splenectomies, cystotomies, and more. Potentially even including femoral head ostectomies and perineal urethrostomies.
- Advanced dental procedures including extractions, and dental radiography
- Build relationships with our referring veterinary hospitals throughout the greater Seattle metro area
- Contribute to mentoring veterinary technicians and growing the surgical team
Compensation
We use a true ProSal model — the industry standard used by 70% of new graduates and endorsed by leading practice management consultants. Here’s what that means for you:
- Guaranteed base salary: $130,000–$160,000/year — this is your floor. You receive this regardless of production, especially important during your ramp-up period.
- Production rate: 21% of your personal production — you earn the greater of your base or 21% of the revenue you generate. No cap on upside. No negative accrual. No carry-forward deficits.
- What this means in practice: At $750K production, you earn $157,500. At $900K, you earn $189,000. At $1M+, you earn $210,000+. The base protects you while ramping; the production percentage rewards you as you grow.
To be specific about how this works: you are paid twice monthly. First check of the month = base ÷ 24. Second check = the greater of base ÷ 24 or 21% of that month’s production minus the first check. In a strong month, the production percentage drives your pay higher. In a slow month, you still take home your full base. No negative accrual, no carry-forward, no clawbacks.
