Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinarian to join our team at Grayson County Animal Emergency Clinic. As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing critical and lifesaving care to animals in need. Your expertise, passion for emergency medicine, and ability to work under pressure will be essential in ensuring the best outcomes for our patients and their owners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt and comprehensive emergency veterinary care to a diverse range of animal patients, including dogs, cats, and exotic pets.
- Perform thorough physical examinations and obtain detailed medical histories.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques, such as radiography, ultrasound, and laboratory tests, to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Stabilize and manage critical patients presenting with trauma, respiratory distress, toxicities, cardiovascular emergencies, and other life-threatening conditions.
- Administer appropriate medications, fluids, and treatments as needed.
- Perform emergency surgical procedures when required.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with pet owners, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Collaborate closely with our dedicated team of veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with clinic protocols.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Surgeon (BVSc) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid and active veterinary license in the state of Texas.
- Previous experience in emergency veterinary medicine is highly desirable, although motivated new graduates with a strong interest in emergency medicine will also be considered.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize with pet owners.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
