Lawrence Veterinary Hospital (LVH) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our growing team in Lawrence, Kansas.

About Our Hospital
Lawrence Veterinary Hospital is a full-service small animal practice located in the best town in Kansas! Lawrence and the surrounding community are strongly committed to their companion animals. You’ll have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with people who are often willing to go the extra mile for their furry family members.
Wellness/preventative medicine, comprehensive medical care, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry are the core of what we practice. Our doctors also have emphasis in pain management, hospice and end-of-life care, cancer detection and treatment, and behavioral/cooperative care. We provide stabilization and moderate emergency care during regular business hours. Referral hospitals are nearby in the Kansas City area, as well as K-State Veterinary Health Center in Manhattan, KS.
Our doctors are supported by a highly capable team of Registered Veterinary Technicians, veterinary assistants, and client care specialists, allowing our veterinarians to focus on medicine, surgery, client communication, and patient care.

About the Position
As an Associate Veterinarian, you will provide comprehensive small animal veterinary care while developing lasting relationships with patients and their families.
You will have the opportunity to practice a broad range of medicine and surgery while working alongside experienced veterinarians and a skilled support team.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive wellness and preventive care examinations
- Diagnose and treat medical conditions in dogs and cats
- Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans
- Perform soft tissue surgical procedures based on your experience and comfort level
- Perform dental procedures and oral health assessments
- Utilize in-house laboratory, digital radiology, ultrasound, and other diagnostic tools
- Provide client education regarding preventive care, nutrition, diagnostics, and treatment options
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and advocate for the human-animal bond
- Practice Fear Free® handling and patient-care techniques
- Collaborate with RVTs, veterinary assistants, client care specialists, and other veterinarians
- Participate in emergency care during regular business hours
- Maintain accurate medical records and communicate clearly with clients and team members
- There are no overnight or after-hours emergency/on-call responsibilities.
Fear Free Veterinary Medicine
Fear Free medicine is an important part of our hospital culture.
Our owner, Dr. Anna Johnson, is a Fear Free Certified® Veterinarian, and several members of our support team also hold Fear Free Certified credentials.
We are looking for a veterinarian who shares our commitment to reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in veterinary patients. Fear Free certification is a plus, but not required. We are happy to support a veterinarian who is interested in pursuing certification and developing these skills.
Schedule
We believe veterinarians should be able to have fulfilling careers without sacrificing their lives outside the hospital.
Our typical schedule includes:
- Weekday hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (one weekday off)
- Rotating half-day Saturdays
- No overnight shifts
- No after-hours on-call
- Emergency care is limited to regular business hours
- We strive to maintain a manageable schedule that allows our doctors to provide excellent patient care without unnecessary burnout.

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package based on experience and qualifications.

- Compensation range of $110,000 - $150,000 base salary

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college
- Active Kansas veterinary license or eligibility for Kansas licensure
- Commitment to high-quality, compassionate veterinary medicine
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a veterinary healthcare team
- Genuine interest in preventive medicine and client education
